Synne Jakobsen is from Norway and was born in the summer of 1996. She is introverted and tends to keep to herself. She has always enjoyed writing and stumbled upon Wattpad by accident when she was 16 and has been writing online ever since, hoping whoever stumbled upon her stories would enjoy them as she does. Synne’s passion lies in her stories and drawings. Her story “Kaden: Paranormal Shifter” wasn’t her first story to receive love from the online community but she never imagined it would become her most viral story online.
More about her below:
Do you have any amazing stories about your fans? Any favorite fan stories?
None that I can recall I’m afraid.
What’s your favorite thing about being a writer?
Losing myself in the worlds and characters I write and shape through stories.
Who is your favorite character that you wrote?
Joaquin
When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I think around 5th grade, that’s when the school began making us read English novels and poems and eventually write our own. I kept writing through the years and when I turned 15 I began to try my hand at lengthy novels.
Do you have any fun facts about your book?
Originally I intended it to be an experiment on Wattpad to see how many readers would justify the male character Kaden and hang onto hope of a romantic relationship between him and Elene despite their contradictions and incompatibilities.
Does writing energize or exhaust you?
Its exhausting but it makes me happy.
What is your favorite quote?
I don’t have a favorite quote.
Who do you say has inspired you the most?
Close friends of mine who are either interested in fiction or write themselves. I don’t have any role models within fiction, although I will say one of the first works that ever inspired me to raid the libraries was J.K. Rowling’s work.
What advice do you have for aspiring authors out there?
Don’t lose hope. If you want to pursue this dream, you have to keep going no matter what others say, but be realistic. Writing isn’t going to be an immediate source of income, make it a hobby and work on the side, set plans and goals and be constructive.
What’s your favorite part of your own book?
Perhaps the final chapters were my favorite due to their cruel nature.
Do you have a writing routine? If yes, what is it?
I have a schedule of days and hours where I’m supposed to write. I implement various punishments for myself if I waste that time or procrastinate. Normally it involves sitting down with a cup of coffee and just writing for two hours straight.
Who is your favorite author and why?
Kristin Cashore, her stories bring me into a wonderful fantasy world that makes the unnatural seem normal and enthralling. I admire her ability to make me as a reader, feel that.
What are you writing now?
A Science Fantasy series under a pen name I don’t intend to disclose.
What inspires you to write?
Writing gives me a purpose in a life, I don’t see much value in anything else. Of course, I’m trying to finish an education and get a job, but writing to me gives life meaning. It may sound depressing but that’s just how I view it.
